Well howdy there!
It's all about manners and service and "have a nice day" here in the good ol' U S of A. We arrived in LA this afternoon after a longish flight from Melbourne (via Auckland) and are now safely holed up in the Crowne Plaza at LAX until our early morning flight to Philidelphia. The weather is great and there seemed to be the whole cast of the Cosby Show on our courtesy bus. WHich is going to be a big contrast to the house we'll have in Lancaster - an Amish community in Pennsylvania! We arrive in Philly with less than 2 days before our first race, Wilmington Grand Prix. They do crits in style here in America - towns get closed, whole wide boulevards utilised and there's a real festival atmosphere. The 6 riders in the team are: Belinda Goss (TAS), super sprinter and 08/09 bronze medallist at World Track Championships in the Scratch race Lauren Kitchen (NSW), member of 08 junior Worlds team, good all rounder Carlee Taylor (SA), whippet climber Davina Summers (WA), all rounder Amber Halliday (SA), my teammate from China & fellow domestique and me Martin Barras (French Canadian, former Aus tack sprint coach) is our Director Sportif and coach with Beth Duryea our soigneur. Race updates to follow! |
